In terms of temporal architecture, a chamber music festival reaching 20 years of existence means vision, perseverance and creating the ever-growing, vibrant audience.
Going international was a natural step for us. We created SoNoRo On Tour, which so far has meant 13 years, 3 continents, 15 countries (France, UK, Italy, Greece, Greece, Turkey, Turkey, Israel and Japan, among others) and renowned concert halls (Carnegie Hall in New York, Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna, Wigmore Hall in London, Bozar in Brussels, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Kennedy Center in Washington and YMCA in Jerusalem).
We continue our SoNoRo On Tour journey this year – after the prelude at the Colon Theater in Buenos Aires (Argentina) at the end of last year and the opening concert at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest we will perform at the prestigious concert venues in Belgium, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Spain, Austria, Hungary and the USA.
The SoNoRo Festival was created as an inspirational musical event in Romania and has developed over the years into a uniquely successful cultural platform that includes the SoNoRo Interferences scholarship program (19 years in running), SoNoRo Conac (13 years of chamber music in national heritage architectural venues in Romania), SoNoRo Arezzo (10 years), SoNoRo Musikland (7 years; a Festival dedicated to the cultural heritage of the Transylvanian Saxons), SoNoRo Cayman Islands Week (2 years) and our new projects SoNoRo Kids, New Year’s Concert and SoNoRo Strings Orchestra (launched in 2024).
We are eagerly anticipating the SoNoRo On Tour performances this year and we are truly looking forward with great excitement to meeting the local audiences. We also invite everyone who loves chamber music to come to Romania – Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca – to celebrate with us the 20th edition of the SoNoRo Festival, entitled “Romanian Rhapsody”, which will take place from October 31 to November 16, 2025.
